We are currently finishing up our first course, “Transformations of Consciousness Through Time,” and it has been a great success! We had about 20 students and week after week of fantastically good discussions. We hope you will join us for the second course, “Understanding Mythology.” It begins on July 16 and continues for 10 weeks until September 17. We meet every Saturday from noon MST until 2 pm. The course includes pre-recorded lectures as well as live discussions. If you miss a class, it will be recorded and I can send you the file.
We will be discussing the works of Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, William Irwin Thompson, Marija Gimbutas (which will also include a discussion of her relation to the ideas of J.J. Bachofen, who invented the concept of matriarchy), J.P. Mallory (her pupil and theoretician of the Indo-European world) and Mary Settegast (a pupil of James Mellaart and author of When Zarathustra Spoke). The first three are theoreticians of myth, while the latter three are archaeologists who are sympathetic to a mythological understanding of their finds.
The cost of the course is $500, but I also have a discount option of $350 for those who really want to take the course but can’t afford the full amount. Also: deals can be made. I am very flexible (within reason).
Ok, that’s it! I hope to see some of you there. It’ll be a great summer: mythology and coffee!
I’m sad this couldn’t come to fruition, do you have a course outline with books for the class or something like that?
