New Online Course: Transformations of Consciousness Through Time

Hello, everybody on Substack! Most of you probably already know this but in case some of you don’t: I’m creating a new online school via the platform known as teachable called The John David Ebert School for the Study of Culture, Cosmology & the Arts. Our first class will be on “Transformations of Consciousness Through Time,” in which we will study such philosophers of the evolution of consciousness as Rudolf Steiner, Sri Aurobindo, Jean Gebser, Erich Neumann, Teilhard de Chardin and Arthur Young.

The course takes place over 8 Saturdays in a row, beginning May 14 and ending on July 2. The course contains 8 pre-recorded lectures (plus PDFs of all reading material attached). Each week the student will have watched one lecture and then we will meet that Saturday at noon MST for two hours to discuss the ideas of each particular thinker on zoom. I’ve done this before and it is a blast, I can tell you without exaggerating in the slightest! I’ve learned so much from students doing this. (I taught an 8 week course on Carl Jung for teachable last year and it was great!)

The second course will commence two weeks later on July 16 and will last until September 3 for a total of 8 Saturdays once again. This one will be on “The Evolution of the Unconscious,” and in it we will discuss Eduard von Hartmann, Freud, Jung, Lacan, James Hillman, Stanislav Grof, Richard Tarnas and Peter Sloterdijk.
