New Online Course: "Rome: Where Are We?"
A Spenglerian look at ancient Rome compared with today
Professor David Getzin will be teaching an 8 class course on the disintegration of the Roman Republic and the rise of the empire and then comparing that along Spengler’s morphological timeline with where Getzin thinks we are today. Getzin will cover Marius vs. Sulla, Caesar vs. Pompey, the formation of the First Triumvirate, the crossing of the Rubicon and the devolution into the Civil Wars. I think this promises to be a GREAT course that will be loads of fun for all you Spengler fans!
The course will be held Nov. 19-Jan. 28 (taking holidays into account, as there will be no classes held on the Saturdays which coincide with Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve). The classes will be held 1-3 pm PDT and will not coincide with my classes on Nietzsche but will start up right after those. (Thus, Getzin’s class corresponds to 2-4 MST, whereas my Nietzsche classes will be held 12-2 MST).
Come join us for a journey through Spengler’s vision of ancient Rome and learn where we are at today on his timeline. This promises to generate lots of fun conversations on social decay and our current cultural disintegration into the rotting West.
