New Book NOW Out: Every Angel is Terrifying
Publication date: Monday, August 4th, 2024 on Amazon
My new novel, Every Angel is Terrifying, IS NOW available for purchase on Amazon on Sunday, August 4th. It is hardcover, in full color (with lots of color images) and 435 pages. Initial cost was $68 but Amazon has released at the discounted price of $51.49.
The plot is a first person narrative told through the journals of a young girl growing up on Luke Air Force Base in the Phoenix desert. Her tyrannical father is a genetic engineer who is trying to create the first human clone in the 1970s. Through her private journals, she engages with her father’s journals and sort of does a back and forth duet. The father chronicles the evolutionary history of life on this planet through the lens of Goethe’s morphological theories. You will learn about everything from the origins of the first cells to the evolution of the whale, the horse, the giraffe and other such biomorphic creatures. In response to her father’s science textbook narrative, his daughter makes funny comments with her own wry, sardonic observations.
As I say, it is a tad expensive at $51, but look at it this way: you wouldn’t have a second thought paying for a meal for that price at a nice restaurant, would you? Here, you get to keep the product. And reread it. Because of its thematic layering and density, some of the more esoterically erudite of you will likely want to reread it many times. As the symbol of Dee’s Monas Hieroglyphica on the spine indicates, it is very much a book within the West’s Hermetic tradition. And the theme of human cloning is a rich topic in itself, symbolically, mythologically and morally.
It is also the first volume of a trilogy entitled The Motorcycle Girl Trilogy. I’ve already started work on volume 2, which is called Motorcycle Girl Descends Into Hell. Volume 3 is called There is No Place That Does Not See You.
I’ve had more fun in the 9 months I spent writing this book than any other work I’ve ever written. Some of my friends whose literary taste I respect have been given advance copies of the manuscript, and word is that the book is great fun! So, for those of you venturesome enough to climb aboard this journey with me, I salute you!
And, as Coca-Cola always insists: Enjoy!
How do I buy it? I don’t see it on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/stores/John-David-Ebert/author/B001K8MS4W?ref=ap_rdr&isDramIntegrated=true&shoppingPortalEnabled=true
