It's both fictional and autobiographical and biographical. The girl was a real person who killed herself. A frustrated artist girlfriend of mine who left behind her diaries. I've combined her diaries and her personality with the characters from my early short story "Where the Sun Bleeds." The little girl narrator in that story was based upon my mother. The father was actually her father who wasn't a genetic engineer but a rocket scientist who committed suicide. Peter is based on my brother combined with my son, both of whom are austistic. So it's both real and not-real at the same time. All the characters are based on either real people or combinations of real people. Glad you're enjoying it.
